After several months of scorching hot temperatures hovering around 100 degrees, it’s probably not all that surprising that I’m positively giddy about it being cloudy and 68 today.

Yes, there’s the slightest hint of a chill in the air, and we’re back to 97 tomorrow, so I had to make the most of it. In addition to ditching my usual iced coffee in favor of something hot while I wrote this morning, I also had the urge to bake something warm and cinnamon-y. The result is this homemade granola that I’m pretty sure my husband will devour by tomorrow.

The great thing about granola is that it’s totally customizable. Just add whatever you like to two cups of oats and mix it up. You’ll want to make sure there’s something sticky like maple syrup or honey to bind it together, and it never hurts to add a little brown sugar, vanilla and melted butter to the mix.

Bake it at 325 degrees for 35 minutes total (make sure to flip it around after 15 minutes for even browning), add your favorite dried fruit and a pinch of salt after it’s had about 10 minutes to settle, and you’ve got homemade granola goodness. As a bonus, your house will smell positively heavenly. 🙂
